Treasure Trek II, a mobile game of knowledge, cunning and strategy, is in the making. The goal? For teams traveling throughout Lewiston-Auburn in stretch limousines to solve clues in their race to find answers to trivia questions and riddles – all as a fun means of raising money for The Public Theatre.

Trekkers will hit the road, starting at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, April 3. The hunt, which will begin and end at The Public Theatre at Maple and Lisbon streets in downtown Lewiston, is expected to conclude at about 5:30 p.m. The finish will be celebrated with awards and prizes, refeshments and music provided by The Tinpanics.

Last year’s Treasure Trek was a huge success, according to the theater, with almost all participants vowing to compete again to try to get their names onto the Winners7 Plaque. More limousines – a total of 12 – will be rented this year. Limos will be assigned to teams of from 10 to 14 people as they are formed. The fee is $500 for a 10-member team, $700 for a 14-member team. The number of 14-member teams will be limited.

At least one limousine will be available for individuals and groups not affiliated with a full team, at a cost of $50 per seat.

Last year’s champions were unaffiliated individuals – and word has it that they are good friends now.

All limousines will be assigned on a first-paid, first-reserved basis. Reservations will be closed when all 12 limousines are full, or on March 1.

Sponsors are being sought for Treasure Trek II. For a $500 sponsorship, two door signs with the sponsor’s name will be placed on each limousine. Clue sites where trekkers will gather the info they need to move on in the roughly three-hour hunt are also extremely important to the success of the fund-raiser. Clue site businesses are expected to make a small contribution to the prize kitty, usually an in-kind donation.

Anyone interested in being a Treasure Trek participant, sponsor or Clue site contributor should contact Ben Lounsbury at 786-2590.
