LEWISTON – Fred Kaemmer, a glass artist and Bates College alumnus, returns to Bates to discuss his work at 7 p.m. today in Chase Hall Lounge, 56 Campus Ave. Part of the Bates seminar series on entrepreneurship, the talk is open to the public at no charge.

Kaemmer will speak about his artistic development and the experiences that have led to his entrepreneurial venture as a glass artist, touching on the lecture series theme, “The Creative Economy.” Kaemmer graduated from Bates in 1992 with a bachelor of arts degree in religion, but without a clear set of career goals. He went on to study studio glass art at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, where he began exploring new techniques and won several awards at student exhibitions. Today Kaemmer has a studio in St. Paul, Minn., and does private commission work and gallery displays in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area.
