LEWISTON – Joshua Aronson, associate professor of applied psychology at the Steinhardt School of Education, New York University, will speak about “Addressing Stereotype Threat” at 7:30 p.m. today in the Keck Classroom (G52), Pettengill Hall, Bates College.
Aronson’s talk will explore the social and psychological effects of being targeted by well-known cultural stereotypes and ways to reduce them in the classroom. Aronson’s visit is part of the yearlong series at Bates that examines the legacy of the 1954 Supreme Court case outlawing segregation in public schools.
