EAST BURKE, Vt. (AP) – A maintenance worker for Burke Mountain Ski Resort suffered a severe injury over the weekend when his arm got pulled into a mechanism on a ski lift.
Brian Lukas of East Haven was greasing the bull-wheel of the J-bar ski lift near the lower lodge when his arm got caught in the wheel, said East Burke assistant fire chief Wayne Greer.
Although Greer didn’t know the exact extent of the injuries, he knew the arm was “badly injured.”
Greer said rescue workers were able to extricate Greer from the machine.
Lukas was transported to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., by DHART helicopter and was listed in fair condition.
Lyndon Rescue, East Burke Fire Brigade, West Burke Fire Department and Lyndonville Fire Department responded to the scene.
