NORWAY – The Norway Universalist Church UU, with other religious denominations around the country, will hold a celebration and show concern for “Water: Source of Life, Physically and Spiritually,” at the 11 a.m. service on Sunday, March 13. The service will be led by the Rev. Joy Gasta.

AARP lunch

PARIS – The Oxford Hills Chapter of AARP will meet Monday, March 14, at the First Congregational Church, East Main Street, South Paris. The board will meet at 11:30 a.m. and lunch will be held at noon.

Cost is $6.50 and reservations are required by noon on the Friday before the meeting. Call Henrietta at 743-6722 for reservations or bring a sandwich.

The meeting will begin at 1 p.m. with speaker Ken Morse from Healthy Oxford Hills. He will update members on what is going on and discuss the walking trails that are available. People age 50 and over are welcome.

Heywood Club

NORWAY – The Heywood Club will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, March 14, at the home of Marilyn Eaton, 388 Crockett Ridge Road. Members should bring any craft ideas they have been working on during the winter.

Open house

WEST PARIS – Plans are under way for a special homecoming open house for six servicemen who have returned from Iraq. The open house will be held from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, March 20, at the Agnes Gray School gym for Vernon Inman, Randy Jones, J.J. Stevens, Travis Coffman, Buddy Robinson and Shawn Coffin.

REACH training

NORWAY – The beginning date for REACH advocate training has been extended to April 13. The 12-week training provides the information and skills needed to support survivors of sexual violence and their loved ones, as well as provide information to the community via the 24-hour support line.

The training is also recommended for other caregivers interested in learning more about the effects of sexual violence. Training is provided free, and participants do not need to commit to support line advocacy.
