AUBURN – The Auburn Exchange Club announces the three Youth of the Year winners: Hannah Giasson from Edward Little High School, Jacob Albert of St. Dominic Regional High School and Alison Coleman from Lewiston High School. Coleman has been chosen to represent the club in the New England District Youth of the Year competition.

As one of the most popular of the National Exchange Club’s youth projects, the Youth of the Month/Year Award recognizes industrious high school students who attain high levels of scholastic achievement community involvement and leadership. The program rewards outstanding young people and provides an incentive for other youngsters to strive for equally high levels of achievement.

The Auburn Exchange Youth of the Year program begins by selecting the Youth of the Month. Each month from October to February students from Edward Little High School, Lewiston High School and St. Dominic Regional High School are nominated by their respective guidance departments as candidates for Youth of the Year.

Each monthly winner receives a $100 scholarship from the Auburn Exchange Club. Selection of the Youth of the Year is made from among the Youth of the Month recipients from the schools.

The program was changed this year to honor a Youth of the Year from each of the schools. The winner from each school will receive a $500 scholarship. The Auburn Exchange Club then chooses a Youth of the Year winner to represent it. That student will receive an additional $500 scholarship in the New England District Youth of the Year competition and an opportunity to vie for the National Youth of the Year Award.

The Exchange Club is an all-volunteer, national service organization for men and women who want to serve their community, develop leadership skills and enjoy new friendships.
