MONMOUTH – The Monmouth Lions Club Speak-Out 2005 was held March 10 at Rhonda’s Grill, Main Street.

The Monmouth Academy students were judged on delivery of speech, material in the speech and responses to questions.

First-place winner was Scott Turcotte, “Panic in America,” $45 cash award and trophy; second, Ryan Buckley, “Annoying Commercials,” $35 and trophy; third, Neil Howker, “Exploitation of Tragedies,” $25 and trophy.

Judging the contest were Lions Amber McCabe, Archie Wing and Tim Paradis. Asking questions were Lions Rev. Russell Chase and Rev. Gerhardt Miller.

Monmouth Academy coaches Scott and Cathy Foyt were presented Lions Club International coffee mugs for the outstanding job they do.
