LEWISTON – The Franklin-Somerset Federal Credit Union Charitable Committee has presented a $500 gift to the Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice Journey of Hope Campaign for the new hospice house.

Amanda Young, committee chairwoman, said, “We are very proud to be able to be a part of this enriching project. It is only due to the generosity of our membership that we are able to support this campaign.”

To date, the campaign has received support from more than 1,300 individuals, foundations, businesses, civic and fraternal groups and expects to reach the $1.5 million goal in March.

Construction on the 14-patient suite hospice house, located on Stetson Road, Auburn, began in early November and has a planned opening of fall. The facility is designed to care for the needs of patients in the final weeks of life when hospice care at home is no longer possible.

In accepting the gift, Kim Wettlaufer, campaign chairman, said, “We are delighted to have the support of Franklin-Somerset Federal Credit Union. Their gift to our campaign reinforces their commitment to the community.”

With offices in Farmington, Skowhegan, Kingfield and Madison, the credit union’s membership exceeds 11,000 individuals.
