FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) – Daniel Cabrera put together another fine start for the Baltimore Orioles, but the Boston Red Sox rallied from a four-run deficit to earn a 5-5 tie in 10 innings Thursday.

Cabrera allowed two hits and an unearned run in 4 2-3 innings, lowering his ERA this spring to 1.59. The right-hander struck out four and walked two.

“You like what you see out of this kid the last few times out,” Orioles manager Lee Mazzilli said.

Cabrera led all major league rookies in wins (12), starts (27) and innings pitched (147 2-3) last season. He is projected to be third in the rotation behind Rodrigo Lopez and Sidney Ponson.

Boston starter Jon Papelbon gave up four runs and five hits in three-plus innings, and the Orioles added a run in the fifth off Byung-Hyun Kim to take a 5-1 lead.

But the Red Sox got three hits against Steve Reed in a four-run seventh fueled by an error by third baseman Napoleon Calzado. The key hit was a two-run double by Sheldon Fulse. Boston put runners on second and third with two outs in the 10th before Steve Kline struck out Christian Lara.

Luis Matos homered for the Orioles and scored twice.

Baltimore finished 3-0-1 against the Red Sox this spring.
