RUMFORD – A wine tasting tour around the world will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, at the Black Mountain of Maine Lodge. Bob Roy, a veteran of more than 25 years in the wine business, will attend to take participants through the wines and answer questions.

Teen meeting

RUMFORD – The Youth Resource Team will hold a planning meeting at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, March 31, at the Teen Center, located in basement of the Mexico Recreational Center, Recreational Drive.

Spaghetti supper

DIXFIELD – Junior Girl Scout Troops 356 and 327 will hold a spaghetti supper at the Dixfield American Legion from 5:30 p.m. until sold out on Friday, April 1. Prices are $6 for adults, $3 for children 12 and younger. The menu includes spaghetti, salad, garlic bread, dessert and a drink.

There will be a silent auction and the girls will have crafts they have made for sale during the supper. All proceeds will go toward the cost of the troops spending a weekend in Boston.

DIXFIELD – Appreciation Night will be held for Coach Gavin Kane on Saturday, April 9, at the Dirigo High School, Defoe Gym. Dinner will be at 6 p.m. followed by a presentation. Circle supper

RUMFORD – The Daughters of Isabella, St. Timothy Circle 504, assisted by the Knights of Columbus, will hold a public supper on Saturday, April 9, following the 4 p.m. Mass at St. Athanasius and St. John Parish Hall. Menu will include assorted soups, chowders, stews, rolls, biscuits, desserts and beverage. Cost is $5.

Musical set

RUMFORD – Moontide Water Festival will present Mac McHale and the Old-Time Radio Gang, Vintage American Country, with special guests Mom’s Home Cooking featuring Appalacian folk music and the Smith Brother, teenage fiddlers, at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 16, at Mountain Valley High School, Muskie Auditorium. Cost for tickets is $8. Proceeds will benefit the Moontide Water Festival. For more information, call 369-9138.

Magic show

MEXICO – A magic show featuring Dennis Labbe and Scot Grassette will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 17, at the Mexico Rec Center. Other events will include: noon to 2 p.m., roller skating, and noon to 5 p.m., bake and craft sale.

Advance tickets are available at Maddy’s Pizza, Mexico Rec Center or Bull Rock Spring Water and cost is $8 adults and $4 students, children under 3, free; at the door adults $10, students $4.

Shortened hours

RUMFORD – Black Mountain of Maine’s tubing park will no longer operate after 4 p.m. Weekend hours will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Ski fund-raiser

RUMFORD – The Black Mountain of Maine Ski Patrol hosted a fund-raiser on March 19 featuring hot wings, ski demos, a silent auction, 50/50 drawing and live music.

Chris Dickson, Jeff Gallant, Gary Petrie and Matt Bell organized the event. The patrollers organized a silent auction that was held throughout the night. Due to many local businesses, they were able to raise additional funds to support their needs. A pair of race skis went for more than $300.

Through-out the evening, Julie Dickson sold 5050 tickets, raising just over $200 with the second draw winning alpine tickets and third getting tubing tickets.

Live music was performed by a local group, the Hooligans.

Sale extended
