FARMINGTON – Francis “Fran” P. Pakulski died Thursday, March 24, at Sandy River Rehabilitation and Living Center in Farmington.

He was born in Livermore Falls, to Joe and Judy Pakulski on April 11, 1926. After graduating from Livermore Falls High School in 1944, he joined the U.S. Army Air Force and became a B-29 gunner. He attended the University of Maine following his discharge and graduated with honors from Pennsylvania State College of Optometry in 1951.

On July 10, 1954, he married Dora Lou Campbell at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Raleigh, N.C. They made their home and raised their family in Livermore Falls and moved to Canton Mountain Road in Jay in 1965 where they have lived for the past 40 years. He practiced optometry in Livermore Falls for 47 years, 23 of those years in partnership with Bill Beeaker. He devoted his life to his patients, his family and his Canton Mountain home.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dora Lou; and their five children, Dean of Pensacola, Fla., Alex and his wife, Mardi, of Skowhegan, Andrea Haigney and her husband, Bill, of Rye, N.Y., Scott and his wife, Jeanette, of Mechanic Falls and Todd and his wife, Rita, of North Yarmouth; his brother, John of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Zachary Reinstein and his wife, Lindsay, of Steep Falls, Katie and Jimmy Haigney of Rye, N.Y., Patrick, Emily, Candice and her fianc, Josh Fiorini, Michael, Nolan and Liam Pakulski; as well as his nephews, Stefan, Tom and Marek Pakulski; a niece, Lisa; three grandnieces; and two grandnephews.
