LEWISTON – Marcel R. Plourde, 75, of Lewiston, passed away Thursday, March 24, at Montello Manor following a long confinement with multiple sclerosis.

He was born in Lewiston, on May, 16, 1929, the son of Arthur and Cedelice (Dufour) Plourde. He attended Lewiston schools. He joined the Navy at 17 in 1947, and served four years as a boatswain mate.

Returning to Lewiston, he married Norma Pelchat on May 5, 1951. She passed away Feb. 9, 2003.

He was in the roofing and siding business with his brother, Lucien, until a disabling accident in 1969. His favorite pastime was to read and watch his favorite sport teams, the Boston Red Sox and the Bruins. He was fortunate to have seen his beloved Red Sox win the World Series.

He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by six brothers, Florian of Litchfield, Roger, Richard and Maurice, all of Lewiston, Gerard of Dewey, Ariz., and Raymond of Palm Bay, Fla.; seven sisters, Aurora Cornish, Marie Longley, Mrs. Robert (Rolande) Lachance, Delores Plourde, all of Lewiston, Dorothy Barnhard of Wales, Mrs. Melvin (Anita) Willis of Grangeville, Idaho and Germaine Mason of Westbury, N.Y.

He was predeceased by a sister, Janet; and two brothers, Fernand and Lucien.
