CARRABASSETT VALLEY – Athletes from all over Oxford Hills journeyed to Sugarloaf/USA for three days of competition, camaraderie and fun at the state Special Olympics Winter Games. In addition to traditional events, athletes experienced a condo living experience, awards ceremony, dance and time for leisure activities.

The success of these events is dependent upon local community-based volunteer time given each season, the support of private and corporate sponsorships and assistance from the Special Olympics headquarters in South Portland.

Those wishing can help by becoming a Special Olympics volunteer, supporting the program with donations of cash, in-kind services or products or sponsorship of an event. Every person, group or company is welcome to participate at their own pace .
