PORTLAND – The Center for Cultural Exchange will present Willem Breuker Kollektief, a virtuosic and wacky 10-piece jazz ensemble from Amsterdam, Saturday, April 2.
The Kollektief is led by saxophonist/clarinetist/composer Willem Breuker. The Kollektief’s approach combines jazz and classical music with many popular genres, from marching band and circus music to Latin dance steps and music for film and theater.
While most of the Kollektief’s music is written by Willem, with occasional pieces by band members, each musician contributes to the collective sound.
Tickets are $19 in advance and $22 on the day of show, and may be purchased through the CCE box office at 761-1545, online at www.centerforculturalexchange.org or at any Bull Moose Music store.
