TURNER – More than 4,000 Central Maine Power Co. customers were in the dark Thursday afternoon after a tree-cutting crew felled a limb onto a transmission line.
Nobody was hurt in the 1:30 p.m. mishap, but CMP officials said 4,321 customers were without power for more than three hours as power crews made repairs.
A CMP spokeswoman said most of the homes and businesses affected by the outage were in Turner and Buckfield, although parts of Livermore lost power as well.
It was not clear where the cutting crew was working when lines were knocked down.
Power was restored to all CMP customers by 5:30 p.m., the spokeswoman said.
However, that was too late for the Arts Gala at Leavitt Area High School in Turner, which rescheduled the event for 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, April 9.
