AUBURN – Auburn Adult Education is offering “Getting Started on Your Book,” “Watercolor” and “Oil Painting Wet on Wet Technique” with artist instructor Barbara Hathaway, Painter of Sunsets from Wilton.

“Getting Started on Your Book” will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. starting Monday, April 4, for six weeks. Students will learn to organize their ideas to form a story that could be printed. Ideas could include fiction, recipe book, journal and poetry.

“Watercolor” will begin Tuesday, April 5, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., and run for eight weeks. Students from amateur to intermediate skill levels will learn basic color, composition and techniques to mat and frame the completed painting.

“Oil Painting Wet-on-Wet Technique” will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. beginning Thursday, April 7, for six weeks. The technique uses magic liquid white to form skies, sunsets and reflection. Different brushes form a variety of foliage. Students can learn how to make landscapes, seascapes, sunsets, flowers and animals.

Hathaway recently exhibited at Festival d’Art, organized by Bates College students. The artists is a member of the Portland Museum of Art, National Museum of Women in the Arts Washington, D.C., and Upcountry Artists.

Students can sign up for the art courses, which will be held at Edward Little High School, by calling Auburn Adult Ed at 784-9220.
