PORTLAND – Fred E. Blanche, 61, of East River Road, Whitefield, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 13, at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

He was born in Augusta, on March 9, 1944, the son of George E. “Dana” Blanche and Hildrith (Hanson) Blanche. Fred graduated from Hall-Dale High School in Farmingdale and later earned his bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Maine at Orono.

He was employed at Fidelity National Management Services as a computer programmer analyst for 10 years. He was previously employed in the same capacity at Key Services for many years and by the State of Maine for several years.

He was a member of Calvary Bible Baptist Church of Whitefield.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Linda (Harding) Blanche, of Whitefield; two sons, Christopher Blanche and his wife, Jenn of Jay, and Joseph Blanche of Augusta; one daughter, Kalin Blanche of Whitefield; one brother, Carlton Blanche of Hallowell; four sisters, Anne Whitman of Manchester, Frances Duncan of Illinois, Geraldine Douglas of Pennsylvania, and Charlene Skene of Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Caleb, Jordan and Connor; three aunts; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Blanche.
