PORTLAND – Five Maine high school rock bands are one show closer to winning $1,000 and the title of Best Young Band in the State of Maine, as Reindeer Records’ 21st Annual Rock-Off heads into the finals.

The top five are Grand Slam Breakfast from Erskine Academy, Interobang, also Erskine Academy, Midriff from Scarborough High School, O.R.B.I.T.S. from Maranacook Community High School, and The Slams, the first homeschooled band to enter the Rock-Off.

‘This year was truly one of the tightest competitions so far,” reported Rock-Off Producer and Reindeer President Louis Philippe.

The finals are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, May 15, at McAuley PAC, 631 Stevens Ave., Portland. Tickets are $10, available from any participating band or by contacting Reindeer at 857-9002 or online at www.reindeergroup.org.
