WESTBROOK – Frances Isaacson Miller died Saturday, April 23.

She was born on Sept. 19, 1916, in Auburn, daughter of Peter A. and Dora Day Isaacson. She graduated from Lewiston High School in 1932, at the age of 16. After high school, she enrolled in Bates College and studied German. In 1938, she graduated college and spent the next six months studying in France. After completing her studies in French, she taught English to French students in Grenole, France.

She returned to Maine and spent most of her adult life in Lewiston-Auburn. She was a member of Beth Abraham Synagogue, Beth Jacob Synagogue, Temple Shalom and a lifetime member of Hadassah. Mrs. Miller was an active community member. She was a well-respected public speaker, well-known for her book reviews and poetry readings. She gave kindly to many charitable causes.

The most joyful and productive years of her life were spent in Falmouth, where she resided from 1977 to 2005. She found peace, happiness and serenity in writing, compiling and publishing her poetic works. By the end of her life, she had composed over 250 poems.

She was known for her generosity, integrity, honesty and loving nature.

She is survived and will be greatly missed by her adored daughter, Deborah Day Bornstein and her husband, Mark Bornstein; her two beloved grandchildren, David Saben and Mrs. Leah Rachel Saben; and her cherished great-grandson, Andre Eady.

She will be greatly missed by all whom she blessed with her love, strength and integrity.
