Editor’s note: Every day there are rays of light that shine into the lives of people through their neighbors, their co-workers, their families and even through complete strangers. This column is devoted to exposing these sunbeams to the light and offering readers an opportunity to share good news. We plan to occasionally offer up our own sunbeams, too.
Daffodil Days

Each year volunteers in the Lewiston-Auburn area work to make the American Cancer Society’s Daffodil Days a great success. On behalf of the American Cancer Society and Paula Roullaird, chairperson of the event in Androscoggin County, I would like to thank the many local individuals, businesses and organizations for their eagerness to help.

More than 1,500 bouquets of daffodils and 100 Gifts of Hope were sold, and more than $10,000 was raised to improve the quality of life for cancer patients and their families right here in our community.

Daffodil Days, like many of the society’s fund-raising campaigns, is volunteer-driven. During Daffodil Days, volunteers prepared, delivered and purchased bouquets. Every volunteer was dedicated to helping support the American Cancer Society’s vital research, education, advocacy and patient programs and services.

Thanks again to everyone.

Marie Roberge,

American Cancer Society, community executive for

Androscoggin County, Auburn
