NORWAY – The Norway Recreation Department is sponsoring a Community Clean-up Day at Lake Pennesseewassee Park from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 7. Participants will concentrate on raking and picking up litter at the boat landing area and the beaches.

Those helping are asked to bring their own rakes and gloves; trash bags will be provided. Lake Pennesseewassee Park is open to the public, regardless of residence.

Sunday worship

NORWAY – The worship service on Sunday, May 8, at the Norway Universalist Church, UU, will be “Water, Giver of Life, Physically and Spiritually: How We Receive that Gift When It Comes Through Our Rivers,” led by the Rev. Joy Gasta, with Music Director Heather Pierson. It was originally scheduled in March, but was canceled due to bad weather.

Plant sale

NORWAY – The Progress Center Inc., 35 Cottage St., will hold its annual plant sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, May 19, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday May 20. There will be a variety of annuals, perennials, mixed baskets and hanging plants.

All proceeds will benefit the individuals attending the Progress Center, a nonprofit agency based in Norway that provides residential, day and in-home support services to adults and children with developmental disabilities. A door prize of a perennial basket will be drawn at 1 p.m. Friday.

AARP to install

PARIS – The Oxford Hills Chapter of AARP will meet at noon Monday, May 9, for lunch and installation of officers at the First Congregational Church, East Main Street, South Paris. Cost is $6.50, and reservations are required by calling Henrietta at 743-6722 by noon Friday, May 6. The menu will be honey-glazed chicken. Installation of officers will be at 1 p.m. followed by a guest speaker.

Breakfast dates

WATERFORD – The Wilkins Community House, Plummer Hill Road, announces the breakfast dates for the season. The Breakfast Committee has been offering breakfast to the public for more than 50 years.

The season always begins with a breakfast on July 4. There will be Wednesday breakfasts on July 20, Aug. 3 and 17. They are from 7:30 to 10 a.m.

There will be an informational meeting at the Wilkins House at 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 11, for everyone wishing to volunteer to make the annual event a success. All are welcome.
