PARIS – A call to march has been issued by the Foster Carroll Post 72, American Legion, in remembrance of departed veterans who have served the country and, in particular, those who gave their lives in its defense.
The Legion requests the participation of local organizations and individuals in the salute and tribute by marching in the Memorial Day parade on Monday, May 30.
Grand Marshal Joe Cooney, a veteran and leader in several veterans’ organizations, will lead the parade. He and his wife, Linda, will head the line of march in an open vehicle and are looking forward to as many units and individuals as possible who are willing to join.
Youth groups, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, church groups, men’s and women’s units and others are invited. Organizations do not have to be military-related to march.
James Taylor Jr., post Americanism officer, said, “This year, with the continuance of lurking death and injury, we need our active duty military to know that we are behind them and will support them however we can, come what may.”
