LEWISTON – Luke Potter was the beneficiary of an RBI walk with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh as Lewiston literally received a 4-3 walk-off win over Messalonskee in KVAC baseball action on Monday.
With the game tied 3-3, Chad Guimond singled to start things in the bottom of the seventh for the Blue Devils (3-5). In an attempt to move Guimond to second, Andrew Boulanger applied a sacrifice bunt that the third baseman mishandled.
Rattled, Eagles (2-6) pitcher Mark McCann walked the next two batters to take the loss for Messalonskee.
Oxford Hills 4, Mt. Blue 3
SOUTH PARIS – Derek Varney smacked an RBI double that scored Kelvin Decato for the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh as Oxford Hills defeated Mt. Blue 4-3 in a KVAC baseball matchup on Monday.
Oxford Hills scored two runs in that inning.
Kyle Keniston scored one run on a bad throw.
Mt. Blue scored all of its runs in the top of the fifth highlighted by an RBI single off the bat of Mike Cayer who plated catcher Luke Lambert.
Matt McDonnell went the distance to remain unbeaten in three starts.
Dirigo 4, Livermore Falls 1
DIXFIELD — Gary Holman went 1-for-2 and drove in two runs to lead Dirigo to a 4-1 win over Livermore Falls in MVC baseball action on Monday afternoon.
Troy Houghton added a solo homer for the Cougars while Jon Robbins went 2-for-3 with an RBI double. Jon Smith went all seven innings for Dirigo and struck out six hitters along the way to earn the mound win.
Tyler Cote knocked in the lone run of the game for the Andies.
Brunswick 5, Leavitt 3
BRUNSWICK — Justin Clark (4-0) held the Leavitt offense to two runs over his four innings on the mound as Brunswick rolled to a 5-3 victory in more KVAC baseball action on Monday afternoon.
With the Dragons (5-3) leading 3-2 in the fifth inning, Brian Lemont smacked a two-run RBI double to extend the Brunswick lead to 5-2.
The Hornets (2-6) produced a seventh-inning rally in which they put men on second and third with just one out, but Steve May quickly retired the two final batters to earn the save.
Tim Doyle (1-1) went the distance for Leavitt.
Lacrosse
Oak Hill 12, Gardiner 6
WALES – Casey Behne tallied a game-high six goals to carry Oak Hill to a 12-6 victory over Gardiner in boys’ lacrosse action on Monday.
Oak Hill’s (3-3) Joey Gilbert netted three goals and added two assists, while Brad Krook scored a pair of goals and had two assists.
Gardiner (1-4) received two goals from Nate Prince, Mike Trimm and Kolby Peakham.
Lewiston 19, Camden 0
LEWISTON — Zach Sheltra netted six goals and tossed in three assists to lead Lewiston to a 19-0 romp over Camden in KVAC lacrosse play on Monday.
Jon Fournier added four goals and six assists for the Blue Devils (5-1), while Tony Travaligni, Bobby Labbe and David Patry added two goals apiece.
The Windjammers’ (0-5) goaltender Eben Laurner had a busy day in the net, recording 15 saves on 52 shots.
Gorham 5, St. Dom’s 3
GORHAM — Brandon Ryan had the game-high two goals for Gorham as the Rams fought their way to a 5-3 win over St. Dom’s in a WMC lacrosse game Monday. Tim Millett, Cam Fecteau and Brandon Laughlin each added a goal for the Rams (4-1) in the win.
Gorham goaltender Brian Pullman tallied 18 saves on 23 shots to earn the net win.
Ben Shaw, Kevin Laplante and Tyler Martin netted a goal apiece for the Saints (2-2).
