HIRAM – Patrick Colwell, Maine Democratic Party chairman, will be the speaker at a meeting of the Oxford County Democrats on Thursday, May 19, at the Horizons Building in South Hiram, adjacent to the elementary school.
According to Oxford County Chairwoman Cathy Newell of Greenwood , the 6:30 p.m. meeting will be preceded by a potluck supper arranged by the Sacopee Democrats at 5:30.
Colwell will highlight developments at the state and national levels. The meeting will include several agenda items, including election of representatives to various state-level committees preparing for the 2006 Maine Democratic Party Convention.
Oxford County is entitled to one member each on the Credentials and Permanent Organization Committees and three members on the Platform Committee.
Announced candidates to date include India Haynes of Waterford for Credentials and Michael Broderick of Bethel for Platform. Others interested should plan to attend the meeting or contact Newell at 875-2116 or cathyn@megalink.net.
The meeting is open to all persons interested in electing Democrats. Those attending the supper are asked to bring a hot dish, salad or dessert.
