PORTLAND (AP) – Brandon Moss and Stefan Bailie homered, Raul Nieves and Hanley Ramirez tripled and Jon Papelbon pitched six strong innings as the Portland Sea Dogs downed the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 6-1 Tuesday in the Eastern League.

The loss snapped the Fisher Cats’ seven-game winning streak.

The Fisher Cats (18-13) scored their only run in the first inning when Kevin Barker homered to right center-field.

Portland (18-10) tied it when Moss homered to lead off the bottom of the third. Triples by Nieves and Ramirez sparked three more Portland runs in the inning.

Bailie’s two-run blast over the left center-field scoreboard made it 6-1 in the sixth.

Papelbon (3-1) struck out five, walked one and allowed one run over six innings to improve to 3-1. New Hampshire starter Josh Banks (4-1) gave up all six runs in his first loss of the season.

The Sea Dogs lead the Northern Division by 11/2 games over the second-place Fisher Cats.
