BURLINGTON, Vt. – Ryan Quintal hit a grand slam in the top of the eighth inning to lead the University of Maine to a 12-0 win over Northeastern in the America East Tournament on Friday afternoon.

Greg Norton was brilliant on the mound for the Black Bears (33-16). He pitched a complete game shutout, scattering just six singles, while fanning four batters for his fifth shutout of the season.

Maine opened the scoring in the top of the fifth inning. Greg Creek singled in Ray Vallee for the first run, and Quintal plated the second run when he singled up the middle to drive in Creek.

The Black Bears advance to the title game at noon today and will face the winner of the Northeastern-Vermont game Friday evening.
