FREEPORT – Alex Smith crushed a two-run homer in the second inning to assist in his pitching effort as Poland cruised to an 11-3 win over Freeeport in WMC baseball action on Friday.

Jeremy Callahan had two hits and three runs for the Knights (13-1), while Curtis Haslip scored twice following a double and a single.

Jarrod Burton was the only repeat hitter for the Falcons (3-12). Josh Driver was the third reliever in the Freeport battery and slowed the onslaught considerably.

Mountain Valley 10, Boothbay 7

BOOTHBAY HARBOR – Kevin Capponi went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and a two-run home run in the fourth to lift Mountain Valley over Boothbay 10-7 in an MVC baseball contest on Friday.

Pat Knapp and Korey Stairs each had two hits and a solo home run for the Falcons (12-1).

Boothbay scored six runs in the first highlighted by a three-run homer off the bat of Greg Kruhiel that scored Adam Rego and Mark Devinger. Boothbay had the lead 7-1 going into the fourth. Roy Arsenault smacked a triple and a double for the Seahawks (2-10).

Mt. Abram 16, Jay 4

LIVERMORE FALLS – Ritter Bopp tallied three hits and three RBIs as Mt. Abram cruised past Jay 16-4 in MVC baseball action on Friday.

Sam Witherspoon led of the fifth with a home run, and Brandon Wheeler began the sixth with a home run for Mt. Abram (8-5).

Jake Farrington homered and Joel Ouellette had three hits for the Tigers (8-7).

Morse 5, Leavitt 4

TURNER – Riley Walker scored the deciding run as Morse nipped Leavitt 5-4 in KVAC baseball action on Friday.

Brian Leighton paced the Hornets’ (3-11) offense with a double and a single.

Bryan Metayer relieved Sean Doyle in the fifth inning and tossed three scoreless frames despite the loss.

Oak Hill 6, MCI 5

WALES – Jeremy Levesque scored the game-winning run on a passed ball as Oak Hill notched a 6-5 win over MCI in KVAC baseball action Friday.

In an inning that featured three walks, three hits and a hit batsman, the Raiders (6-7) pushed four runs across the plate in the sixth for a come-from-behind win. Ethan Guerette pegged a two-out single to tie the score at 5-5.

Lacrosse

Lewiston 21, Oak Hill 4

WALES – Zach Sheltra poured in seven goals and Travis Lebrun added five more to spark Lewiston to a dominating 21-4 victory over Oak Hill in boys’ lacrosse on Friday.

The Blue Devils (8-3) scored seven times in the first quarter en route to a 13-2 cushion by halftime.

Jon Fournier chipped in with four goals and seven assists for Lewiston, while Josh Rivet was the only other multiple scorer with two goals. Tony Travaglini and Bobby Labbe had one goal and three assists apiece.

Joey Gilbert led Oak Hill (4-8) with two goals.
