AUBURN – Central Maine Community College will host the first annual Fathers Day Father-Son 2-on-2 Basketball Tournament on Saturday, June 18. The event will start at 9 a.m. and conclude at 4 p.m.

The double-elimination event is open to teams comprised of a combination of fathers and son. If there is enough interest, there will be a Father-Daughter Division.

Entry fee is $30 per team. Trophies will be awarded to the champions of the following divisions: Dad and 20+-year-old; Dad and 15-19 year-old; Dad and 10-14 year-old; Dad and 9-under. There will be played to 11, or 20 minutes, whichever comes first.

There will be a 3-point contest for 2 divisions, dads and children 15+. Cost is $3.

There will also be a free thorw contest for children 14-under at a cost of $3.

A concession stand will be available.

Post-up training on tap

CASTINE – Maine Maritime Academy will host a weekend training camp for high school boys post players, Saturday and Sunday, June 25-26.

The camp will include the many aspects of post play including offense, defense, transition, thought processes and decision making, and conditioning. It is open to boys who will be playing high school ball in the fall.

Youth camp scheduled

CASTINE – The Sure Shot Shooting Camp, for boys and girls ages 10 through high school, will be held at Maine Maritime Academy from July 5-7. This basketball camp will feature 18 hours of concentrated lectures, demonstrations, instruction and evaluation in the art of shooting. Head clinician will be Bob Cimbollek who has 58 years of experience as a coach, player and official.

Camp fee is $200. Special rates are available for multiple attendees from the same high school or junior high team, and for coaches.

All-star camp planned

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Applications are now being evaluated for the Ten Star All-Star Summer Basketball Camp for boys and girls ages 10-19. The camp, by invitation only, has included past participants Michael Jordan, Tim Duncan, Vince Carter, Jerry Stackhouse, Grant Hill and Antawn Jamison.
