LEWISTON – Violet R. Gould, 73, a resident of Poulin Court in Turner, died Wednesday, June 1, at Central Maine Medical Center where she had been a patient for three months.

She was born in Milo, on July 23, 1931, the daughter of Stewart and Erma Huzzy Ross. Shortly after her birth, her parents moved the family to Plainville, Conn. She attended the local schools and was a 1950 graduate of MCI.

In December 1952, she married Frank Gould in Pittsfield. They made their home in Pittsfield before relocating to Gray, where they lived for 20 years. During her years in Gray, she worked as a CNA at the Pineland Hospital in Pownal for 15 years, retiring in 1996.

Following retirement, she and her husband moved to Turner. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Turner.

She enjoyed crafts, knitting and crocheting afghans, and making clothing for dolls.

She is survived by her husband of Turner; two sons, Dan Gould of Wilton and Frank D. Gould of Roxboro, N.C.; a daughter, Susan Hobgood and her husband, Keith, of Roxboro, N.C.; a brother, Roger Ross and his wife, Ramona, of Pittsfield; two sisters, Nancy Cameron and her husband, Donald, of Newcastle, and Barbara Wallensack and her husband, Jack, of Amherst, Mass.; and three grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a brother, David Ross.
