LEWISTON – Donald Normand Dick, 75, of 11 Weybosset St., Lewiston, passed away on Thursday, June 2, surrounded by his family.

He was born on Dec. 30, 1929, son of Hazel Hildreth Dick and Robert Dick, originally from Scotland.

An honorable man with a great sense of family values, he coached basketball and baseball to be close to his son. He loved sports and spent time running, swimming, and sea kayaking with his daughter.

In addition to his first love, Gladys, his wife of 56 years, he had a great appreciation of music and produced individualized tapes from his vast multimedia collection. He also loved golf and enjoyed reading historical novels.

He served as vice president of the Lewiston Blue Devils Sports Club and was a lifetime member of the Lewiston Lodge of Elks 371.

During his retirement years, he was an avid bowler, serving as president of a seniors’ league. He loved to travel with his wife to hear a variety of music and entertainment.

Don was a retired Lewiston Municipal Police Officer, where he served with compassion. He was a graduate of Portland Police Academy and Law Enforcement Officers Training School, furthering his education in constitutional law.

He is survived by his faithful and loving wife, Gladys Gibson Dick; two children, Scott Dick and his wife, Kathy, of Gray, and Cindy Draper and her husband, Michael, of Falmouth; one granddaughter, Jennifer Bolduc and husband, Mike; two great-grandchildren, Tyler Babb and Alexis Bolduc of Auburn; three sisters, Lillian and husband, Gerry Gastonguay, of Greene, Terry and husband, Jace Trickey, of Westbrook, Muriel and husband, Pat Falco, of Jamestown, R.I.; a brother, Stephen and his wife, Claire Dick, of Metaire, La.; and his stepmother, Gertrude Dick of Lewiston. He will also be remembered by his many loving nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, and a brother, Robert Dick Jr.
