LEWISTON – Hazel A. Parker, 80, of Tasker Avenue, Rumford, died Thursday, June 2, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston following a courageous battle with diabetes, with her beloved husband, Robert, and daughter, Jane, at her side.

She was born on June 25, 1924, in Muncy, Penn., a daughter of Robert and Isabelle (Hagey) Lyons.

She was a communicant of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Rumford. She was a member and president of the Episcopal Church Women’s Organization and was very active in many church functions.

Even during her illness, Hazel was an inspiration to many because of her perseverance and positive attitude to others each day of her life, and she will be remembered as one who never forgot someone on their special occasion. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed knitting.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Robert D. Parker of Rumford, two sons; Rickey Parker and wife, Gayle, of 29 Palms, Calif., Kurt Parker of Bay Shore, N.Y., three daughters; Sherry LaGrone and husband James of Silver Springs, Md., Kristey Husband and husband James of Alexandria, Va., and Jane Lovejoy of Saco; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, Keith Parker, in 1977, and a twin brother, Jack Lyons, of Winthrop.
