LEWISTON – Kathleen R. “Kaye” Knapp, 73, of Roxbury, died Sunday, June 5, at the Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. For many years she had resided on the Roxbury Road in Roxbury.

She was born in Roxbury, on July 11, 1931, a daughter of Joseph and Lilla (Morse) Reed, graduated from Stephens High School in Rumford, Class of 1948, and graduated from Nasson Junior College in Springvale, Class of 1952.

She worked many years in the office of the town of Mexico as a clerk, including town treasurer and town clerk, before going to the town of Roxbury, where she served as town clerk, treasurer and tax collector for many years, until her retirement in 1999.

She was an active DAR member for more than 50 years and member of Mt. Zircon Chapter 142, O.E.S.

She enjoyed her family genealogy, camping, traveling, and loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was married in Roxbury in September 1952, to Leslie B. Knapp, who survives her of Roxbury. Other survivors include a daughter, Karen Gallant and husband, James K., of South Rumford; a son, Kristopher Knapp and wife, Amanda, of Decatur, Ala.; five grandchildren, Amy Martin and husband, Tim, of Strong, Alex Gallant and wife, Kasey, of Mechanic Falls, and Cheyenne, Brooke and Madison Yohnke of Decatur, Ala.; four great-grandchildren, Natasha Gallant of Peru, Makayla and Michael Martin of Strong, and Savannah Gallant of Rumford; a stepgreat-grandson, Connor Mason of Mechanic, Falls; a sister, Joleen Seaward and husband, Carl, of Wilton; and many nieces and nephews.
