MONMOUTH – The 2005 “Governor’s Cup” benefit bass tournament is scheduled for Sunday, June 12 on Cobbossee Lake at The Birches Campground.

The Maine B.A.S.S. Federation and the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife sponsor the event. Members of the Maine State Senate will compete against members of the Maine House of Representatives in a catch, measure and release (CMR) tournament for the right to hold the Governor’s Cup. Proceeds will benefit the March of Dimes.

Governor John Baldacci will present the winning team with the trophy and also hand out awards for the lunker largemouth and smallmouth bass.

Tournament hours are 8 a.m. to noon. Breakfast will be available at the dining room from 6-7:45 a.m. at cost. Lunch and awards will start at noon. Members of the Maine B.A.S.S. Federation will act as boat captains and guides.
