WEST PARIS – Theodore Hayford Bradeen, 97, of West Paris, died Monday, June 6, after a very short illness.

He was born in Sumner, on Aug. 3, 1907, the son of Perley and Glenis (Hayford) Bradeen, and was educated in local schools.

He worked at Bath Iron Works during World War II and while there met his future wife, Frances Bunker, whom he married in June 15, 1946. She died on July 11, 1999. He also worked for Wilner Wood Products for 30 years, retiring in 1975.

He was a quiet man who enjoyed gardening – having probably the best garden in town, was an avid hunter and enjoyed woodworking, and making Adirondack chairs, of which he has made and sold hundreds.

He was a sports fan and enjoyed watching his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren play Little League. He had seen the Boston Red Sox win every World Series, except the 1903 series. He was the present holder of the Boston Post Cane for the town of West Paris.

He is survived by one son, Rick Bradeen and his wife, Jan, of West Paris and their children, Jason Bradeen of Burlington, Vt., and James Bradeen of Tampa, Fla.; two daughters, Linda Liimatta and her husband, Mick, of West Paris and their children, Eric Liimatta of West Paris and his children, Mikko and Isaac of West Paris, and Saara Liimatta of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Ellie Newell and her husband, Bill, of South Woodstock and their children, Neil Thurlow, of Boston, Jason Newell of Cornwall, Vt., and Cass Newell of South Portland.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Norman and Raymond.
