I cannot get over the pure gall of people like letter writer Al Pelletier of Norway (June 2) who dares criticize a woman like Linda Bean Folkers for trying to protect her land from people who litter and endanger her property with illegal fires.

She tried to get the townspeople to help with a solution, but they were not interested.

One of the Sun Journal’s columnists, V. Paul Reynolds, had the nerve a few months ago (Jan. 23) to suggest property owners be charged a fee for not letting the public on private land. Believe me, we already pay a large fee – property taxes.

“Please” signs do not work on inconsiderate people who care nothing for other people’s rights. We noticed that Mr. Reynolds frequently writes about vacations he has taken, probably on other people’s land. We cannot afford vacations, we pay property taxes. We have lived here 33 years. In that time, we have had firewood, Christmas trees and flowers planted on the side of the road stolen. Our trees were tapped for syrup, pot plants in buckets hidden in our woods, apples from our roadside tree stolen and land rutted by ATVs, and they think, “Please be nice” signs will work? Right.
