LEWISTON – Barbara L. Sleeper, 74, a resident of 7 Our Road, Sabattus, formerly of Auburn, died Sunday morning, June 12, at Central Maine Medical Center, following a long illness.

She was born in Lewiston, Feb. 18, 1932, the daughter of Herbert and Elva (Hobbs) Aldrich. She attended Auburn schools.

For over 18 years, she was employed with Bourque’s Market on Sabattus Street in Lewiston as a deli clerk.

She enjoyed camping, spending time with family and was an avid NASCAR follower. She especially enjoyed watching people be happy.

Survivors include one son, Michael Sleeper and his former wife, Suzanne Harlow, both of Sabattus; one daughter, Judy Fish and her husband, Tom, of Leeds; her life-long companion, George Rutherford of Sabattus; one sister, Pat Wilson and her husband, Harold, of Bangor; four grandchildren, Tyler Sleeper, Jennifer Fish, Wendy Lea and Scott Fish; seven great-grandchildren; and also surviving are a niece and nephew.
