Class reunion

NEWRY – Rumford High School class of 1975 will hold its 30-year class reunion on Saturday, July 16, at the Grand Summit Resort at Sunday River.

Gospel concert

MEXICO – The First Baptist Church of Mexico will present a special gospel concert on Father’s Day at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, June 19. The church is hosting the monthly union service of several area churches and will feature the contemporary Christian group known as the Galiettas.

The Galiettas are a family consisting of husband and wife and two daughters who play guitar, violin, key board, and bass guitar. They present a variety of contemporary Christian music and they have performed in churches all over New England.

A love offering will be taken for the group. The church is located at 20 Roxbury Road and the public is invited. For more information, call the church at 364-8712.

Acadian Society

RUMFORD – The Acadian Society will hold its monthly meeting and potluck supper at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 16, at St. Athanasius and St. John Parish Center. The speaker will be Ella LaPlante, who will share her genealogy. It will be the last meeting until September.

Lobster lunch

RUMFORD – Rumford Area Rotary’s next lobster lunch will be held Monday, June 20. A lunch delivered to a place of business will be $7. It includes a toasted lobster roll, chips, a baked goodie and soda.

Those who don’t have an order form should call Greg at 364-7225 or fax an order form to him at 364-2664 by 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 15.

Proceeds are donated to local charitable organizations and used for the Rotary scholarships for local high school seniors.

MEXICO – Members of the Stephens High School class of 1949 will meet at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, for a luncheon at the Far East restaurant.

Meeting change

RUMFORD – The Ladies in Line dancers will not meet on Wednesday, June 22. Leader Peggy Welch’s son, Dan, and his three sons will be visiting from Texas.

The dancers will resume meeting from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, at the Rumford United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.

Mommas dinner

DIXFIELD – The Red Hat Mommas of Western Maine will meet at 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, at the Dixfield American Legion.

A turkey dinner will be served and the cost is $6.50 and is payable to Isabell by Monday, June 20.

School meeting

DIXFIELD – SAD 21 will hold an informational meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, June 20, in the Student Community Center room at Dirigo High School. Architect Lyndon Keck will update the board of directors and community members on the progress of the design of the new elementary school. Input will be sought from community members on what they would like to see in the new facility.

Networking

RUMFORD – The next monthly Community Networking meeting sponsored by the River Valley Healthy Communities Coalition is scheduled for noon Thursday, June 23. Those who plan to attend are asked to bring their own lunch. The meeting will be held at Scrappers Domaine on Canal Street.

Chuck Gill, Central Maine Health Care vice president for community affairs, will speak about the Central Maine Medical Center as a tertiary care hospital that offers trauma care, acute care and LifeFlight.

There will also be updates on other organizations community activities, including programs of the Healthy Communities.
