PARIS – The Oxford County Education Association-Retired will meet at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 17, at the South Paris Congregational Church before summer vacation.

The association is open to anyone who retired from any Oxford County school job and who would like to be able to meet former school associates while learning about laws and changes influencing retirement pensions, health insurances and travel opportunities.

The brief business meeting and installment of new officers will begin before the noon dinner. Reservations must be phoned in by Wednesday, June 15, for any retiree to stay for dinner. Retirees not on the phone list may call 743-7677 for the reservation.

The scholarship fund-raiser will be the book sale, with members bringing in books that others might wish to buy.

Rob Walker, president of the Maine Educators’ Association, will be the guest speaker, telling about legislative issues dealing with education and retirement. His program will be held after the dinner and members may ask questions. Rodney Abbott, president-elect, will meet with outgoing president Jean Boyd and other officers to discuss the 2005-2006 plans following the association’s meeting.
