RUMFORD – Geraldine L. Lambert, 67, died Tuesday, June 14, at Rumford Hospital, with her family by her side. She was a lifelong resident of the area and had resided on South Rumford Road, Rumford.

She was born in Mexico, on Sept. 9, 1937, a daughter of Daniel and Lucille (Swett) O’Leary. She graduated from Mexico High School and St. Joseph’s College in Standish, with a degree in education.

She was an elementary school teacher, and taught school in Rumford and Mexico schools for many years.

She was a communicant of St. Athanasius-St. John Church, and a member of the Maine Education Association and National Teacher’s Association. She enjoyed reading and loved to socialize with family and friends.

She was married in Rumford on July 29, 1960, to Girard B. Lambert, who survives her of South Rumford. Other survivors include an adopted daughter, Lisa Verschoor and husband, John, of Bangor; brothers, Donald O’Leary and wife, Marilyn, of Mexico, and John O’Leary of Rumford; sisters, Eleanor Patrie of Rumford, and Marylou Doyle and husband, Christopher, of Dunwoody, Ga.; many nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law, Lucille O’Leary of Riverview, Fla., and Virginia O’Leary of Mexico.

She was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Jones Hosie; and three brothers, Gerald, Gordon and Ivus O’Leary.
