FARMINGTON – Margaret M. Frechette, 77, a lifelong resident of Jay, died Tuesday, June 14, at Franklin Memorial Hospital, following a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on Feb. 27, 1928, in Jay, the daughter of Ascenzo and Crocifissa DiGiacomo Benedetto. She was a 1946 graduate of Jay High School.

On July 28, 1947, she married Norman “Roger” Frechette at St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay. He passed away on March 8, 1999.

She worked for Norwalk Shoe Co., in North Jay and Livermore Shoe Co., in Livermore Falls. She was also a devoted homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who always looked forward to the weekly 5 o’clock Sunday dinners which she prepared for her family. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay and a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Post 3335.

She enjoyed her daily walks and watching the Red Sox games, and was an avid sports fan who always attended her grandchildren’s sporting and athletic events.

She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Donna and Steve Hamilton of Jay, and Doreen and Bill Jacobs of Livermore Falls; two brothers, Arthur Benedetto of Jay and Joseph Benedetto of Livermore Falls; a sister, Elizabeth Smith and her husband, Gordon, of Norway; five grandchildren, Matthew Jacobs and his wife, Laura, Jason Jacobs and his wife, Kim, Erika Tilger and her husband, Shawn, Brad Hamilton and his fiance, Tammy Whitmore, and Meghan Hamilton and her companion, J.P. Hanrahan; five great-grandchildren, Kelsee, Cameron, Micaela, Emily and Ava; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Albert and Querino Benedetto; and four sisters, Grace LaPointe, Jennie Frechette, Angela Musto and Mena Hynds.
