HARRISON – Planning for this year’s Harrison Old Home Days from July 13 to 16 is moving into the home stretch. Advance ride tickets will be available at the Market Basket and Village tie-Up in downtown Harrison. Also on sale at those locations are ducks for the ninth annual Great Duck Race.

Harrison Old Home Days will begin on Wednesday, July 13. The highlight of the evening will be the fireworks display presented by Atlas of Jaffrey, N.H. The midway will open at 6 p.m. Raffle drawings will begin at 7 p.m. and prizes have been donated by many area businesses.

Registration forms for the third annual Harrison Old Home Days 5K Run by the Lake, aka the Whoopie Pie Run, on Thursday, July 14, are available at the Harrison Town Office, The Market Basket and the Village Tie-UP. Register by June 30 and save $2. Registration fee on the day of the race is $17.

After the race, at 8 p.m., Nick Knowlton and his LA Baby boom Box will entertain and provide a karaoke experience on the Harrison Old Home Days stage.

The annual Junior Parade, with participants ranging in age from toddlers to 12, will begin at 6 p.m. Friday, July 15. Registration for the parade will start at 5:30 p.m. at the Calvary Church parking lot. Participants costumes should reflect the theme, “200 Years Down Memory Lane.”

The Grand Parade will step off at noon Saturday, July 16, accompanied by a fly-over of a KC-135 refueling tanker. At 5 p.m. the duck race will get under way. The winning duck guarantees its owner one-half the total sales.

In addition to the food and the midway rides, each evening will provide musical entertainment on the Harrison Old Home Days stage. Hourly raffles will be held each night culminating in a 50/50 drawing at 10:30 p.m. Many community groups will provide homemade goodies and miscellaneous entertainment.
