LEWISTON – Rene Pomerleau, 66, of Lewiston, passed away on his birthday, Sunday, July 3.

He was born in Lewiston, July 3, 1939, a son of Alphonse and Virginia Pomerleau.

He married Eileen Christ on July 28, 1967.

He attended local schools and served two years in the Army Reserve while pursuing a career in the trucking industry. He retired in 2001 from Road Way Express.

His interests included attending Maineiacs games, automotive maintenance, gardening and a talented vocation in carpentry. His skills gave him an uncanny ability for restoration. He enjoyed getting involved in his children’s activities, Boy Scouts, youth hockey and youth soccer.

Most of all, he loved spending quality time with his grandchildren. He was fortunate to have many close neighbors and friends throughout his lifetime. He will be greatly missed by all.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Eileen Christ Pomerleau; five sons, Marc and his wife, Tammy, of Portland, Tim and his wife, Deborah, of Lewiston, Jim of Turner, Keith and his wife, Sherry, of Lewiston, Chris and his wife, Sarah, of Lisbon Falls; and 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
