WEST ROXBURY, Mass. – Raymond A. Ostrander, 58, loving husband to Nona L. Ostrander, both of 7 Valley View in Sabattus, passed away Wednesday, July 6, at the West Roxbury Hospital after a courageous battle with CLL, caused by exposure to a Agent Orange while he served his country in Vietnam.

Son of the late Rosemary Cushman Peterson and Eugene R. Ostrander, he was born on May 3, 1947, in Ilion, N.Y.

Ray enjoyed cruises, golfing, bowling, his cats “Molly” and “Little Bit,” Coca-Cola, and spending time with family and friends.

Ray began his service in the U.S. Army on Feb. 1, 1967. He served in Vietnam from Nov. 20, 1967 to Nov. 15, 1968. He was honorably discharged on Jan. 30, 1970.

Survivors include his wife, Nona Ostrander, of Sabattus; one sister, Genie R. Kingsley and husband, Terry, of Campbellsville, Ky.; five brothers, Edward R. Ostrander of Elmira, N.Y., David J. Peterson and wife, Kayla, of Lawrenceville, Pa., Martin R. Peterson and Douglas J. Peterson of Sulphur Springs, Texas, Andy Peterson and wife, Milinda, of Charlotte, N.C.; three children, Tammy Ostrander and husband, David Force, Raymond Ostrander II and wife, Tanya, and Tanya Hughes all of Elmira, N.Y.; three stepchildren, Veronica Herrick, Matthew Perry, and Mariah Perry all of Maine; four grandchildren, Anthony Ostrander, Raymond Austin and Maddison Rose Ostrander all of Elmira, N.Y., Gabriel Perry of Litchfield; and many nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by those who knew him.
