SANFORD – Jon Lister blasted a three-run homer and Aaron Izzy added a two-run triple to lead Bonanza to 10-4 win in the second game of a doubleheader sweep over Lewiston-Auburn in Twilight League baseball action Sunday.

Lister’s tape-measure shot to left center was the key blow in a seven-run first inning off Lewiston-Auburn starter Chris Hinkley. Izzy tacked on his three bagger in the third. Greg Kimball picked up the win for Bonanza (6-11).

In the first game, Kimball singled home Lister for the winning run in the sixth inning and scored an insurance run in a 3-1 triumph. Trevor Powers went the distance for the win, while Myles Whitlock suffered the loss in relief. Nick Lawler led the hitting attack for the L-A (8-9) with a pair of doubles among his three hits.

Mechanic Falls wins two

POLAND – Joe Douglass’ two-out, eighth-inning single to center scored Jake Pelletier from third base capped Mechanic Falls’ doubleheader sweep over Gray with a 5-4 win. Mechanic Falls won the opener 7-3.

Alex Smith homered off Gray starter Tim DeLuca with one out in the bottom of the seventh to extend the nightcap to extra frames. Smith picked up the win in relief by hurling four scoreless innings. Ryan Welch had three hits, including a double to lead Gray (3-11).

Brent Cary spun a five hitter in the first game to garner the victory for Mechanic Falls (5-8). Steve Ray went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.
