LIVERMORE FALLS – A woman who was 8 months’ pregnant lost her unborn baby shortly after her vehicle struck a utility pole Wednesday when she swerved to avoid hitting a child on Church Street, police said Thursday.
Jennifer Hewitt, 24, of Livermore Falls, injured her leg in the accident, Lt. Thomas Gould said Thursday, and was taken by ambulance to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington.
She lost the baby shortly afterwards, he said.
Hewitt was listed in stable condition Thursday at the hospital, a clinical coordinator said Thursday night.
A child ran out in front her and she swerved to avoid the child and hit the pole with her 1996 Jeep Cherokee, Gould said. The vehicle was totaled in the accident, which occurred about 4:30 p.m., he said.
