POLAND – The annual Odd Fellows and Rebekahs picnic will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, on the grounds of the family cottage of Clyde Thorpe, 50 Megquier Hill Road.

Families and friends of Odd Fellows and Rebekahs all over the state are invited. Golf carts will be available to transport those who need it to the picnic and beach area. Everyone is to bring his/her own lunch or something to grill.

The residents of the Odd Fellows and Rebekahs Home in Auburn are transported by the activities director to the picnic.

Thorpe, a 75-year member of the Odd Fellows and Rebekahs at the time of his death in 1999, hosted the outing for 30 years. In his memory, his daughter, Esther Tucker, a 55-year member of Liberty Rebekah Lodge, is carrying on the tradition.

Needs donations

MONMOUTH – The Theater at Monmouth is accepting donations for its annual Silent Auction through the end of July. In the past, the event has helped to raise funds essential to the continuation of quality performing arts in central Maine.

The auction will be open for bidding Aug. 6 though 20. The items will be on display at Cumston Hall for the two weeks of the auction. More than 7,000 patrons ranging from local residents to the summer crowd from across the country will see the items before and after shows.

Individuals can help as well. The theater take donations such as timeshares, antiques or a week/weekend at a lakeside camp. To make donations, contact the theater office at 933-2952.

Church school

LISBON FALLS – Lisbon Falls Baptist Church invites all the children in the surrounding areas to join for “Sonward Ho! – A Pioneer Adventure!”

“We’re ready for a Vacation Bible School your children will never forget,” said Pastor Steve DeGroft. “Sonward Ho! creates an atmosphere of fun and excitement where children will have a great time singing, watching skits, special presentations by our puppeteer group, creating crafts and playing games. But most important, they’ll discover God’s love and care for them.”

Sonward Ho! 2005 will be held from 8:45 to 11:45 a.m. starting Monday, Aug. 1, and continues through Friday, Aug. 5, at Lisbon Falls Baptist Church, 555 Lisbon St. Children ages 4 through starting seventh grade are invited. For more information, call the church office at 353-8518.

Help needed

LEWISTON – Classmates of the Lewiston High School class of 1981 are needed for planning the 25th reunion in 2006. Message boards have been created online for classmates to reunite and discuss planning. Classmates can subscribe free at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Lewiston81 and at www.classmates.com.

Bridge play

NEW GLOUCESTER – The New Gloucester Bridge Club met July 17 at the Masonic Building, intersection of Routes 100 and 231, where a six-table Howell movement was played.

Finishing first in Flight A were Dot Kelleher and Kassandra Barbour; second, Marta Clements and Bill Bowman; third, John Joys and Nick Karamessinis. Finishing first in Flight B were Marta Clements and Bill Bowman; second, John Joys and Nick Karamessinis. Finishing first in Flight C were Sally Johnston and Pat Schlegel, with Audrey Burns and Linda Leotsakos, second.
