PERU – Marvin Joseph Binette, 72, of Peru, died late Sunday afternoon, July 17, at his home.

He was born in Mexico, Jan. 9, 1933, a son of Joseph N. and Diana Marchand Binette, and received his education in Mexico schools. He was a veteran of the United States Army National Guard, having been a member of the 103rd Infantry.

He worked in the beater room, eventually advancing to the position of a beater engineer at Boise Cascade Paper Group in Rumford, where he was employed for 45 years, retiring in 1995.

He enjoyed going to stock car races with his two grandsons, Nathan and Danny. He also loved family gatherings, and swapping hunting and fishing tales with his sons-in-law.

He is survived by his wife, Lois (Phillips) Binette, of Peru; two sons, Steven Binette and Donna of Bethel, and Alan Binette and Sherri of Mexico; four daughters, Gail Putnam and her husband, Wayne, of Peru, Maureen Gammon and her husband, Milan Jr., of Rumford Center, Brenda Brown and her husband, Robert, of Peru, and Cynthia Manzer and her husband, Arthur Jr., of Peru; a sister, Merlene Gallant and her husband, Leo, of Roxbury Pond; 13 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter and a soon to be born great-grandson.

He was predeceased by a sister, Faye MacDonald of Concord, N.H.; and his first born grandson, Jason D. Brown.
