LOCKE MILLS – The Oxford County Democrats will sponsor an old-fashioned chicken pie supper at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, July 28, at the Locke Mills Legion Hall. Gov. John E. Baldacci will be the guest of honor.
The supper will benefit the Legion’s roof replacement fund and is open to the public. There will be a silent auction to benefit the county Democrats.
Tickets for the supper may be reserved by calling 875-2116. Advance sale for adults is $9; those 65 and older, $7; and under 12, $5.
Oxford County was represented at the Democratic State Committee meeting on July 16 by Roy Gedat. The event was held in Aroostook County following the Potato Blossom Festival. Local Democrats participated in Bethel’s annual Mollyockett Day parade with a float depicting local children fishing in the Androscoggin. The booth on the Common was open.
Plans are in the works for the 2006 State Convention, with initial planning meetings being held in the coming weeks. Mike Broderick of Bethel, Joanne Morse of Waterford and Malcolm Macdonald of Denmark are serving on the Platform Committee, India Haynes of Waterford on the Credentials Committee, and Nancy Willard of Woodstock on the Permanent Organization Committee. Marlee Turner of Brownfield is the representative on the Rules Committee.
The caucus meetings will be held in all towns on Sunday, March 5.
