EUSTIS – A Livermore Falls man was arrested Sunday on charges of breaking into an apartment in Stratton, Franklin County, Lt. Niles Yeaton said Monday.

Willard Howard, 22, was arrested on a charge of burglary and summoned on charges of attempted theft and criminal mischief, Yeaton said.

A woman came home July 16 and found a window broken at her apartment with what appeared to be blood on it, Yeaton said.

She reported the matter and a suspect’s name to emergency dispatch and Deputy David Rackliffe and Cpl. Nate Bean responded, Yeaton said.

Deputies located a vehicle that had run out of gas on the side of the road in New Vineyard, he said, and saw that a passenger in the vehicle fit the description of the suspect.

Deputies talked to the suspect, who was not cooperative, Yeaton said. Deputies went back and collected evidence at the scene, including blood, and after further investigation arrested Howard, he said.

Howard was injured in the break-in, Yeaton said, and received medical treatment.
