LEWISTON – Holy Cross School Principal Shawn Chabot, who led the Catholic school for three years, has resigned to become assistant principal at McMahon Elementary School, a 475-student public school in Lewiston.
The Catholic Diocese in Portland is searching for his replacement. It wants an active, Catholic principal with a background in literacy, according to an advertisement on a Web site for educational jobs in Maine. Although Chabot continues to oversee the school during the summer, officials hope to fill the position as soon as possible.
Holy Cross is 78 years old and serves more than 360 students in pre-kindergarten through grade eight. This year it is refurbishing its elementary school and consolidating its elementary and junior high school campuses.
